Mini tennis stars are in for a treat this week as they wrap up five weeks of the ANZ tennis in schools programme.

This is the final week of the programme and to acknowledge all the kids’ hard work on the court and newly learned tennis skills – each child that took part in the programme will receive an ANZ pencil case stuffed full with stationary.

Last week Arorangi School students wrapped up their programme with fun games on the tennis court and presentation of their prizes from ANZ Bank representative Julz Westrupp.

Arorangi School principal Vae Unuka was thanked for his support of the programme and he in turn thanked national coach Malcolm Kajer and ANZ Tamariki Sports Programme coordinator Ake Hosea-Winterflood for their dedication in teaching the school kids new skills.

Today Rutaki School will have their final tennis lesson and receive their ANZ prizes while St Joseph’s School will finish their programme on Thursday along with Takitumu Primary School.

Some naturally talented tennis players have been identified through the five-week programme and are being encouraged to get into the sport and join the Saturday lessons and competitions for junior tennis players.

Parents and schools wanting tennis lessons for their students can contact Kajer on 75614.
