Parry and Palmer win first cross-country race

The first race in the five-week cross country series was held at Tereora last Thursday with a good number of athletes racing.

While the front runners stuck together for the first couple of laps, Bryn Parry took off from the field to take a clear lead and win the men’s race in a time of 20:29.

Vanessa Palmer was a clear leader in the ladies race, leading from the start and winning in a time of 18:09.

It was good to see a couple of younger athletes taking part, with Jacob George winning the juniors race followed by Leif Parry.

The second race in the series will be held at Rutaki School at 5.15pm today.

Distances will be slightly longer than last week.
