The Cook Islands men’s under 16 football development squad lost to Rangers FC 4-6 in the 2012 Gold Coast Champions Cup tournament in Gold Coast, Australia.

Having secured a first-up 3-1 win over Mudgeeraba Club, the Cook Islands representatives were confident of remaining unbeaten from two matches.

But the better and quicker organised Rangers team scored first and maintained their lead throughout the match.

Pekay Edwards scored his third goal in two matches while Takuina Tararo had two goals from as many games for the development squad. Edmond Tupuna and a Rangers FC own goal also inflated the scoreboard for the visitors.

Yesterday at 5.30pm (CIT) the Cook Islands played Charlestown City FC.

The Cook Islands are sitting in third place on the points table and will need to win their final match against Charlestown City FC and hope the result of the other match between Mudgeeraba FC and Brisbane Force FC will go in their favour.
