Mato and Love star in NZ tourney

Cook Islands scholarship students Daniel Mato and Jag Love are making a name for themselves at Rangiora High School just outside of Christchurch.

Over the Easter weekend they were a force to be reckoned with on the rugby field with Mato having his first start since he was concussed earlier on in the year.

Mato was prop for the first three games of the full-on Easter tournament and in the last match played at hooker. Love had a great outing during the tournament and was named ‘back of the tournament’ after putting together a number of good performances and scoring a number of tries. “Both Daniel and Jag are getting the feel of the team as combinations are still being settled on. With only one more warm-up game against Burnside in two weeks before Press Cup starts, it is pleasing to see how well the team is looking in the early pre season stages,” reports Nikki Jones, who the local boys are staying with in Rangiora.
