The first week of Come and Play Football saw a huge crowd of children accompanied by their parents to the CIFA complex for fun football and small sided games.

Laughter and excitement echoed across the two pitches while children shared amongst themselves what they have learned from their sessions.

Over the five years that Come and Play Football has been running, the children have shown extreme improvement with technique and ball skills and have nearly nailed the basics of football while impressing their parents at the same time.

As the programme runs into its second week it has been attracting 100-plus children between the ages of five and 13 and even some four-year-old footballers. Come and Play is aimed at encouraging young children to play football but most of all it is a chance for them to have fun.

According to CIFA’s development officer Tuka Tisam the children who participated in the sessions showcased some natural talent and proved their ball skills have gotten better.

”With Come and Play in its fifth year I have been amazed at the improvement from all ages with basic ball skills and how the kids enjoy playing amongst their age groups,“ Tisam said.

Today’s session will kick off at 9am and finish just before 11.

CIFA encourages those parents whose little ones that have not yet experienced this fun event to bring their kids along to enjoy a game of football.
