An exciting opportunity has developed for the country’s top women’s cricketers.

This week Northern Districts Crickets coach and selector Pat Malcon returns for his annual coach education visit bringing with him a unique opportunity for at least one aspiring cricketer.

The cricket association will hold an open training session for female cricketers this Saturday where at least one lucky female cricketer will have the opportunity to impress and be scouted to join Northern District Cricket’s top women’s team in their pre season camp in New Zealand.

Crickets Alister Stevic says this latest agreement with Northern District Cricket was a major coup for female cricketers.

”We have very talented cricketers, we need to continually provide them with elite opportunities to develop their skills, and this latest development is a once in a lifetime opportunity.“

The selected cricketer(s) will gain the opportunity to learn from highly experienced New Zealand coaches and rub shoulders with some of the finest cricketers in the Northern District of New Zealand.

Stevic adds that he believes he has aspiring players that could represent the Northern District State team in the foreseeable future – potentially New Zealand and beyond that.

The training session will be held at 2pm this Saturday at the Muri field.

The session is open to all female players of all ages, no registration is required, and players just need to turn up on time and prepared.
