Puaikura tops football competition

The Puaikura premier men’s soccer outfit together with their senior women’s, under 17 men’s and under 14 boy’s team are currently leading the 2013 football competition in their respective divisions with one round of game to play in the first round.

In the premier men’s division, Puaikura takes the lead and is sitting on fourteen points with one point separating them from Tupapa Maraerenga who is close behind on thirteen points.

Puaikura have played an extra game while the rest of the six clubs Tupapa Maraerenga, Nikao Sokattak, Avatiu, Matavera, Titikaveka and Takuvaine have one more game to play to determine their final placing before heading into the second round of games.

In the senior women’s championship, Puaikura takes the lead on thirteen points with the goal difference separating them from Nikao Sokattak who have a game in hand. Trailing by one point in third place on twelve points is Tupapa Maraerenga.

In fine form since the 2013 football season kicked off, Puaikura’s under 17 men’s outfit have proved to be team to beat taking the driver’s seat on eighteen points while second-placed Nikao Sokattak is sitting on twelve points with six points separating the leader from the rest of the pack.

In the junior divisions, Puaikura scored a maximum of sixteen points and is unbeaten so far in the Under 14 Boys category with Nikao Sokattak placed second on eleven points and Matavera sitting on nine points in third place.

In the Under 14 girls division, Tupapa Maraerenga is in the lead on fifteen points with Matavera in second on ten points and Nikao Sokattak trailing in third place on seven points.

Titikaveka FC is the forerunner for the newly introduced Under 11 Mix division, winning all their games so far and sitting on fifteen points with Tupapa Maraerenga sitting close behind on twelve points. Matavera take the third spot on nine points.

Today the under 11 mix and under 17 men’s competition continues at the CIFA complex and Takitumu School grounds commencing at 4.15pm.

At the Takitumu School Grounds – 4.15pm Under 11 Mixed Matavera vs Titikaveka, Ref-Eiau Tangapiri, 4.50pm Under 17 Men Matavera vs Titikaveka, Ref-Mike Mouauri, Assistant refs-Eiau Tangapiri & Jericka Matapuku.
