The Matavera women’s cricket team ‘Hot Eyes’ will step out on the field this weekend sporting a new look thanks to the generous sponsorship of uniforms by Air Rarotonga.

The young women’s side have been together for three seasons, captained by Benedicta Matapo, the youngest captain in the women’s league, with sights set on winning the 2013 championship.

Coach, William Tommy, describes the squad as a team in progress.

“They are young but determined cricketers,” says Tommy.

Hot Eyes are well on their way to success having played two games since the start of the season and winning both.

Members of the team consist of Benedicta Matapo (captain), Toni William, Marii Kaukura, Columber Moetaua, Raita Moetaua, Willou William, Sala Matapo, Mama Baxter, Atinata Simona and Apii Tangata.
