Silver for Taea and Tapoki

The Cook Islands won two silver medals on the track and field in Wallis on Thursday, bringing the Cooks medal count to 6 medals – one gold and five silver medals.

The medals were won by Patricia Taea (left) and Tereapii Tapoki. The first silver medal was won by 200 metre sprinter Patricia Taea who made it through the heats placing second with a time of 25.29. In the finals she had a fantastic race giving it everything she had in the last 50 metres to cross the line second with an outstanding time of 25.13 to win the silver medal and set a new personal best time and national record. The second silver medal was won by discus gold medalist Tereapii Tapoki in her second event of shot put with a best throw of 14.46 to win silver and a season’s best performance.
