Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga have won their last matches of the round cup competition played on their home grounds at Nikao field and at Victoria Park on Saturday.

In the Tupapa Maraerenga and Avatiu match – Tupapa wasted no time and got on the scoreboard early in the first half through striker Geoffrey Strickland.

However, it was a short lived lead when a foul was committed in the goal area by Tupapa defence, giving Avatiu the opportunity to equalise one-all.

The equaliser did little to slow down Tupapa, who added another three goals before the half time break.

In the second half Tupapa scored their final two goals, but it took some time for the goals to come and Avatiu again was rewarded with another penalty foul right on the edge of the 18 yard box.

Avatiu’s captain Tahiri Elikana made it two out of two for his side with the final result in favour of Tupapa six goals to two.

In the other Lotto Premiership men’s match between Nikao Sokattak and Takuvaine – host Sokattak managed to slip past a determined Takuvaine side by three goals to two while Titikaveka and Matavera drew one all.

In the senior women’s championship – competition leaders Nikao Sokattak claimed the 2013 round cup championship by defeating Takuvaine by four goals to nil while Tupapa Maraerenga have confirmed their second place by comfortably beating Avatiu seven goals to nil.

Titikaveka’s senior women’s team tried effortlessly to creep into third place but the score line from their game against Matavera failed to do so, with Titikaveka winning over Matavera by six goals to one.

The knock-out competition will commence this Wednesday in the first round elimination.
