Yellow minions, ancient Egyptian goddesses, run away brides were spotted enjoying the party atmosphere at the Sevens in Heaven tournament on Saturday.

A lone blue avatar and Marilyn Monroe were also among revellers in the hospitality zone of the final day of another successful Sevens in Heaven tournament.

The fun festival atmosphere and competitive rugby sevens action drew crowds of spectators and revellers to the BCI Stadium who were not disappointed with great weather making for hot sevens action on the field and plenty of cheering from the side lines.

On the field – regular visiting New Zealand club Bombay Hawks were crowned the 2013 champions after disposing of defending champions the Teimurimotia Stallions 26-19.

Off the field – there was also fierce competition in the dress up department making it a tough task to judge.

In the end, the talk of the stadium was a lone avatar wandering the grounds and turning heads.

For her efforts CI News advertising representative Taja Vaetoru won the Havana Hottie competition in her bright blue painted on attire.

There was no looking past the glamorous Egyptian goddesses for top honours in the best dressed group stakes while the blue army of feathers and cowboy hats won the Teimurimotia Stallions mamas the best dressed supporters team awards.

The runaway brides certainly enjoyed the attention of the big day and the large contingents of minions were hard to miss in their innovative costume that drew laughs and smiles all day.

One of the off field highlights of the tournament was the outstanding dancing by the ‘play hard’ dance group led by dance teacher Nana Hirata.

The group of 14 adults and 27 kids had the crowds in awe as they pulled off a well-choreographed routine that had spectators in roaring cheers.

Sevens celebrations ran long in to the weekend and will go down as one of the best weekends of rugby sevens action and after match revelry.
