The chase for the Lotto Premiership men’s football title gets interesting as competition leaders Puaikura prepare to take on Tupapa Maraerenga at their home turf at Raemaru Park today.

Tupapa Maraerenga and Puaikura will indeed showcase determination and provide an exciting football match as these two top sides will no doubt make it a festival of football for all followers of the game.

Puaikura have risen rapidly through the ranks since the 2013 season kicked off back in August and aiding them in their quest for the title are the Tisam brothers with up and coming rising youngsters who featured in the national under 17 team.

Also causing a stir on the pitch for Puaikura is Paavo Mustonen who has scored in most of their matches they have played and will no doubt look to up his performance against Tupapa.

For Puaikura a win or a draw will almost secure the round cup championship for the club for the first time in many years.

For Tupapa Maraerenga anything less than a win will see the round cup slip out of their hands after holding the title for the last three years.

In the senior women’s championship, hosts Puaikura will have home ground advantage and will certainly play to win against Tupapa after a disappointing game last weekend.

In the other match played today, hosts Nikao Sokattak will battle it out against opponents Titikaveka at the Nikao field. In their first outing Nikao proved too strong for Titikaveka and will certainly look at repeating that performance again today in the lotto premiership.

Competition leaders Nikao Sokattak in the senior women’s championship are sitting comfortably in the driver’s seat ahead of Tupapa and Puaikura. No doubt Sokattak will bring their ‘A’ game against Titikaveka today.
