Taea the time breaker

Twenty-year-old national sprinter Patricia Taea, pictured here burning the track at the Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna early this year, has set yet another new national record on the running tracks in Australia.

Taea, who is currently training at the Regional Development Centre in Brisbane, set a new national women’s 400m record of 59.84 seconds – the old record being 60.4 seconds.

The sprinter set the new 400m record at the Queensland schools and invitational combined event held at the Gold Coast City athletics track last month.

Taea is the current 100m sprint record holder with a blistering time of 12.29 seconds set at the mini games in Wallis and Futuna.

She is set to return home for the Christmas break before returning to the institute to keep training and breaking more records.
