Rising local golf stars and siblings Rotana and William Howard are putting on a fine display of golfing skills as members of the Bay of Plenty men’s and women’s Interprovincial Golf tournament on the back of some impressive performances.

The golfing siblings are certainly making their nation, family and parents Ned and Rita Howard very proud.

Twenty-one-year-old Rotana Howard won the recent Sovereign Bay of Plenty 54 hole open tournament in a play-off.

The tournament, played at the Whangamata Golf Club, saw Howard and fellow golfer Susan Lines tied on a total of 214.

It took two holes to decide a winner – Howard birdied the second play-off hole to take the overall win. The Howard siblings are members of the Waiariki Institute of Technology High Performance Golf Squad in Rotorua and are also members of the Arikikapkapa Golf Club.

Rotana Howard is due to graduate soon as a top student at the Sir George Seymour National College of Airline (Travel and Tourism). She is ranked 27th in the New Zealand golf order of merit and her brother William is ranked 49th.
