Dengue fever cases decline

PAGO PAGO – American Samoa’s Health Department’s latest report on dengue fever shows that the threat from the mosquito borne disease is continuing to weaken.

Since the outbreak began in May, 471 suspected cases of dengue fever have been noted at the LBJ Hospital and community health centres. In that time period 143 people were hospitalised with four confirmed dengue related deaths. The department says the peak was in August and since they have been seeing fewer suspected cases each week.
