The first teams to take the field were the mighty NukzPower and Foodland.
Nukzpower had to work hard for their touchdowns, especially with players being late to the game, allowing Foodland to get early points on the board.
In the end Foodland just had too much speed, winning by eight touchdowns to NukzPower’s five.
In the second round of mixed games, Team 007 was too slick for the enthusiastic Aroa T Bags.
Despite this, the Aroa T Bags had a lot of fun and managed to break the 007 defence to score a touchdown.
Improving game by game for 007 is young Maeva Robati and Taio Taio, both of whom displayed some impressive stepping. Team 007 won the match 8-1.
“Aroa is to be commended for their game spirit and willingness to involve their junior players, who were courageous,” said Cook Islands Touch president Daphne Brown. “This team reminds us to have fun.”
It was a close game between Elegi and Mangaia, but it was the speed of the Elegi boys that got them over Mangaia to win by two points.
Team Transport kicked into top gear and despite Team ATT’s best efforts, there were just too many Transport speedsters, running away with a 7-3 win.
ICI Transformers had enough in the tank to pull off another solid performance over the fast-improving Live Smart, winning four tries to one.
Meanwhile, last week saw the last-round games of the Bluesky Men’s and Women’s Competition.
GAT leads the men’s division on 16 points, followed by Team Transport on 13 points, Germinators (10), Team ATT (10) and Manatoa (9).
In the women’s competition, NukzPower leads on 18 points, followed by FBI Green (17), Bounty Hunters (13), and FBI Reds (9).
“The semi-finals for the Bluesky Men’s and Women’s Comp (today) promises some very close finishes. All the best to all the teams,” Brown said.
