The Cook Islands under-19 men’s team has vowed to bounce back after losing in their opener against Tonga but the side faces a tough task against Samoa today at 4.30pm at the CIFA Complex.

Cook Islands faced a disappointing 3-0 defeat to a resurgent Tongan side, while Samoa flexed their muscle against their neighbours American Samoa, on the opening day of the OFC U19 Championship Qualifier on Saturday.

Some of the most talented young footballers in the Pacific are set to play against each other this afternoon at the CIFA Complex in Matavera.

The Cook Islands Under-19 national men’s team is optimistic heading into their opening OFC Under-19 Championship qualifiers match this weekend.

Football equipment and transportation worth $247,000 were blessed and officially handed over to the Mangaia Football Association on Tuesday.

The continuous rain that has hit Rarotonga is not doing any favours for the organisers of a regional football competition to be held on the island later this month.

In a little under two weeks, the under-19 teams of Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa and host team Cook Islands will compete at the Oceania Football Confederation U19 Championship Qualifiers at the CIFA Complex in Matavera.
