Battle of the giants

Puaikura and Tupapa Maraerenga will face off for the first time this year at the CIFA complex in Matavera.

After a slow kick off to their 2019 Round Cup Championship campaign, the Tupapa premier men struggled last week but managed to put away Matavera 1-0.

Today they will play a much more resilient Puaikura side who defeated Matavera 4-0 in their first match of the season.

Puaikura’s convincing win over Matavera makes the side a top bet in today’s match. Puaikura’s Jarvis Aperau, will play a key role in preventing the Tupapa offence today while his teammates Conroy Tiputoa and Campbell Best will lead the attack.

In the senior women’s division, Puaikura and Tupapa both began their seasons on high notes coming away with wins.

Both teams triumphed against the young and inexperienced Matavera side.

A win today could either put Tupapa in a good lead over the other clubs or Puaikura in a position to contest the title. The two teams will go head to head at 2:30pm

The other match between Nikao Sokattak and Matavera will be played at the Nikao Field.
