That was the theme at last week’s Just Play Village Festival. The event celebrated Universal Children’s Day and focused on the theme “Respect”, with close to 140 children turning out to enjoy an afternoon of fun activities.
Also there were New Zealand High Commissions staff Samantha Beckett and Curtis Williams who were seen having a bit of fun themselves as they got active in a fun game with some of the young ones.
“Respecting yourself and respecting others is the foundation for happy children and we all have a part to play in ensuring a better future for all,” said Just Play project manager Michelle Paiti.
In the final activity of the day, each team was given a letter to form before joining together to form the word respect.
Paiti thanked all the volunteers who helped out in the delivering activities on the day, and the partners from badminton, as well as the parents for supporting the programme and encouraging their children to participate.
“A huge meitaki maata to our programme funders, New Zealand government, Australian government, UEFA Foundation for Children and UNICEF who continue to support the social development of our children in the Cook Islands.”
