In the end, 85 children braved the cold weather to enjoy a series of fun activities and games before thunderstorms ended the day.
Most of the children came from the outer island hostels of Rakahanga, Pukapuka, Atiu, Mitiaro, Mangaia and Mauke, in addition to a few from around the Tupapa area attending.
“Today was about giving our children from the outer islands the same opportunity to be active in a fun environment as our children here in Rarotonga often get, and we are really pleased with the turnout from the hostels,” said organiser Michelle Paiti.
Those participating in the Football for Fun festival’s events definitely looked to be enjoying the different activities and football games that Cook Islands Football Association (CIFA) staff were able to deliver.
Weather permitting, CIFA staff will also look to deliver another school holiday activity after the Constitution for all our Cook Islands children to enjoy.
