The Cook Islands Football Association’s Technical Department will be hosting trial games for potential U-16 and U-19 national players for OFC Preliminary Competitions in 2018 today at 4.30pm.

CIFA national staff will be observing players throughout the games to identify prospective players for these two youth National Teams.

A number of players have been identified by the CIFA Technical Department to participate in these trial games today.

The final selection of the teams will be made, with several overseas players from abroad, a few weeks before the tournament date.

Any players not yet identified by the CIFA technical department who feel they have a chance of making the final selection are welcome to attend.

The U-19’s OFC Preliminary Men’s Championships will be hosted in Rarotonga, Cook Islands from May 26 to June 1 next year, while the U16’s OFC Men’s Preliminary Championships will be taking place in Tonga from July 14 to July 20.

Last year, the Cook Islands U-19 team progressed through to the final stage of the Oceania Tournament and played teams such as New Zealand.

The U-16 missed out on qualification to the final stage to Samoa by one point.
