The final round of round robin games will be held at Victoria Park in Tupapa, starting with the under-11 and U13 Quick Rip Sevens at 2pm.
The Panthers, who defeated Yalovata 19-5 and Cowboys 34-0 last week, will take on Mangaia in their first match at 3pm before playing Manatoa at 4pm.
Manatoa, the shadow national Sevens team, overcame Yalovata 17-0 and Mangaia 26-14 in their matches last week. Today, the side will take on the Cowboys before the Panthers clash.
Cook Islands Rugby Union development coordinator Ben Koteka said they were expecting some exciting matches in the final preliminary rounds.
“Some big matches will be held in week two of the Steinlager Sevens Tournament, especially the Manatoa team who will play against tournament favourites the Panthers,” Koteka said.
“All teams will be looking to improve on their week one efforts as they all build towards the Raro Sevens to be held at the end of this month.”
Players to watch out for in today’s games are Panthers speedster Kave Mocedike, Manatoa’s hardworking utility back/forward Rangi Piri, Cowboys powerhouse utility Andre Iro, Yalovata young gun David Napa and skilful Mangaia’ playmaker Viiga Ruepena.
Koteka said the Cook Islands Rugby Union were most grateful to Steinlager and The Bond Store for your continuous support.
Entry fee to the tournament is $2 for adults, and for children under-16, entry is free.
