The annual fun run is part of the weeklong celebration to commemorate Olympic Day.
Organising committee member Kurai Foster said they are anticipating a huge turnout in this year’s fun run.
The run is open to people of all ages and abilities and there will be three different courses: easy (1km), intermediate (2.8km) and advanced (4.3km).
Course one will have participants completing two laps around the golf course and take part in various bubble stops with different fitness instructors.
Course two – Start off at the golf course – Head towards Arorangi - Turn left at Hospital road - Down towards the golf club - Head around to Arametua loop – Around backroad to Nikao beach back to golf club.
Course three – Start off at golf club – Head towards Arorangi Edgewater Resort and Spa – Turn left up Arorangi Prison road – Turn left to Hospital Hill – Down towards Pokoinu Tapere and back to golf club.
Registration starts at 3.30pm followed by the fun run at 5pm.
“We have representatives from sporting federations, government agencies and private businesses showing interest in the Olympic Day Fun Run,” Foster said.
“We will also have Luciana (Nicholas) and her Cardio Combat crew providing some fitness drills. There will also be stalls which will be serving sausage sizzles and fruits.”
Meanwhile Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee which is running this event is selling special Olympic Day Fun Run t-shirts for $10 each.
