From June 1 and 2, the Oceania Table Tennis Championship was held, followed by the World Junior Circuit from June 4 to 7. The road to Youth Olympic Games qualification on June 8 and 9 then concluded the week-long tournament.
A total of 26 countries competed in these events, including the table-tennis powerhouse that is China, a few European countries, plus Iran, India, Jordan and others.
The competition was held in U15 and U18 junior and cadet grades, in both boys’ and girls’ divisions. Singles and team competitions were held in each grade.
The Cook Islands contingent, which comprised 10 players, also competed in the singles and team events in the Oceania Table Tennis Championship and the World Junior Circuit.
The country managed one gold and two bronze medals in the girls’ mixed doubles team events.
