Young sailors Helene Johnson and TeAkauo Framhein are in Australia taking part in the domestic and international competitions in Brisbane.

The two took part in the 2018 Australian and Oceania Open Laser Championships which ended yesterday.

The competition was a build up for the Australian Youth Championship which will be held from January 9-15 at The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

In the 2018 Australian and Oceania Open Laser Championships, Framhein finished 55th overall with a total of 415 points while Johnson managed 67th spot.

The championship provided the sailors with big fleet radial sailing experience and a perfect platform to prepare for the Australian Youth Championship, starting next week.

Last month the pair represented the country at the World Sailing Youth Championships in Sanya, China.

Johnson represents the Manihiki and Rarotonga sailing clubs, while Framhein is from the Rarotonga Sailing Club.
