The finals were decided yesterday afternoon and with the time constraints of publishing a morning national newspaper there were no results to hand at the time of going to print.
In the men’s singles, 21-year old Lawrence Paniani was to playoff for the bronze medal while the men’s fours team of lead Ioane (Vou) Inatou, second Joseph Akaruru, Peter Totoo and skip Phillip Jim were in the gold medal playoff of their division with a good chance of success.
The men’s pairs and triples will begin their campaign for medals today.
In the women’s division, the ladies pairs team of Linda Vavia and Tai Tangi along with the ladies triples team of lead Nooroa Daniel, second porea Eliza and skip Irene Tupuna were both seeking bronze in the medal playoff in their respective divisions.
The Pacific Games lawn bowls tournament is being played on artificial greens that have been described by our men’s team manager, Anthony Turua, as fast and accurate.
The tournament is being played over 18 ends.
The ladies singles and fours competition will also start today and will wrap on Saturday afternoon with semi finals and finals just before the closing ceremony of the games.
