Team manager Stuart Henry says he is impressed with the adaptability of the local players to the new course, especially young guns Elmay Viking and Rotana Howard.
The pair make up the national women’s team along with Rowena Newbegging and youngster Memory Akama.
The men’s team of Royale Brogan, Kirk Tuaiti, William Howard and Daniel Webb have also had positive warm up games leading to the start of their tournament today.
The tournament is an 18-hole off-the-stick gross event held over four days.
The best three score cards are added together for the overall team score.
The tournament was officially opened on Tuesday night (Monday CI time) and will run up until Saturday.
Looking sharp and ready, the local team will be looking for birdies and not crocodiles which is just one of the challenges to avoid on the PNG green.
