Netball fans gathered at the Muri courts on Saturday to see the home side host its first netball game of the season as part of the SHE Eagles’ “5 games in Muri” netball campaign.

President Brian Morgan, the Matman, was enthusiastic about the day’s events: “A real sense of village pride was evident today,” he said.

“From the junior games and shared lunch concept to having plenty of seating and marquees available to shield from the elements.  Coupled with the food stalls, MC and music on the court, all made for an extra ordinary days outing within our village in Muri,” he said.

A feature under Morgan’s presidency has been the free entry into SHE Eagles home court games.

He says: “By making it free to enter our home netball games, families are able to fully enjoy what we have to offer at our courts.

There are many ways to skin a cat and when the food stalls sell out, that’s a positive sign.”

Morgan says: “Build it …  and they will come”- a quote from Kevin Costner in the movie Field of Dreams.

SHE Eagles netball is drawn to play Avatiu this coming weekend.
