Organisers of the Primary Schools Viva 7s and Netball tournament held on Wednesday have hailed the event as a great success.

Students from each of the island’s primary schools, as well as students from both Titikaveka and Nukutere College, all competed in the event, held at Raemaru Park in Arorangi.

In the day’s hotly contested netball action, the Year 8 competition was won by Nukutere College, with Apii Avarua in second place.

Apii Avarua continued their winning ways, picking up the Year 7 and Year 5/6 titles to go alongside the school’s dominance on the rugby field.

Helping organise and umpire the netball competition were members of the National Netball Academy, with a number of teachers and supporters praising their involvement and professionalism.

Netball organisers said it was also a good chance for players to enjoy a game before the Rising Stars netball tournament begins this weekend.
