The side defeated Arorangi Bears 23-19 in a thrilling encounter marred with some controversial calls at Nukupure Park in Muri on Saturday.
The Sea Eagles scored the winning try in the dying stages of the tit-for-tat battle played under wet conditions to clinch the crucial match points.
With five minutes remaining, the two sides were locked at 19-all when an error by a Bears player allowed the home team to run away with a try.
A Bears defender fumbled the kick off, which gave the Sea Eagles an attacking scrum in the opposition territory. After a couple of plays, the Bobby Hansen-coached side grabbed the winner from Peter Marsters, who scored in the corner, much to the delight of the vocal home crowd.
The win sees the Sea Eagles complete round one of the Raro Cars Rugby League Competition 2019 without a loss. They defeated all the top guns in the competition, including defending champions Tupapa Panthers.
The side remains the leader on the points table, heading into round two which kicks off this weekend.
In the other premier matches over the weekend, Titikaveka Bulldogs defeated Aitutaki Sharks 54-12 at Teimurimotia Park on Friday, while the Avatiu Eels thumped Takuvaine Warriors 84-8 at the Happy Valley Field.
