After the completion of preliminary rounds, the Tupapa Panthers, who finished on top, will play the fourth-placed Arorangi Cowboys at Victoria Park on Saturday.
In the other semi-final, Takuvaine Reds will host defending champions Avatiu Eels at the Happy Valley Field. The Reds finished on second spot ahead of Eels’ third placing.
The final round of competition last week saw some interesting results especially in The Bond Store match of the week between the Panthers and the Eels.
The Eels, who struggled this season with mixed performance, managed to pip the highly-fancied Panthers 22-20 in an interesting match.
Despite leading 10-5 at the break, the Panthers were not able to come away with the win, allowing the Eels to gain a morale-boosting victory ahead of this Saturday’s semis.
Against the Reds, the Eels will face a mammoth task but with experience in their side, the visitors will be out to stage another upset in the competition.
Former champions Reds are on song with some brilliant performances in the competition lately and will be hoping to maintain their form in a bid to make the final.
The Panthers in the other semis will be highly favoured, but the young Cowboys cannot be underestimated as they have proven giantkillers in crucial matches.
