A 12 man squad was selected at the end of the camp and includes two home-based players including Teu Paerau from Aitutaki and Teina Savage from the Tupapa club.
They join home grown players as well as Cook Islands players from Australia and New Zealand in a team that boasts height and speed.
The 12 men selected to wave the national flag have trained hard over the last four to five months and the Hong Kong sevens kicks off a huge year for Cook Islands rugby.
The Cooks national sevens squad will be co-captained by Greg Mullany from Wellington and Chay Raui from Auckland and includes Harry Berryman (New South Wales), Josh Petero (New South Wales), Simon Marcel (Auckland), Francis Smith (Tasman), Teu Paerau (Aitutaki), Teina Savage (Rarotonga), Sean Fletcher (Queensland), James Raea (Auckland), Louis Makuare (Queensland) and Junior Kiria (Auckland).
The squad will take on Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay on day one of the competition on Friday 28 and Japan on Saturday 29 with quarter finals, semis and final to follow.
