The 2019 Kia Orana Youth Football Festival kicks off today with Pool A teams in action at the CIFA Complex in Matavera.

Mangaia’s under-16 girls and tournament newcomer’s Nikao Sokattak FC’s U16 girls will be the first to show their talent, match starting at 1pm.

The U16 boy’s division match between these two teams will commence directly after the girls clash.

Mangaia’s U16 boys fought hard and earned a spot in the semifinals of the inaugural festival last year while Nikao are known to be a top contender in the local competitions.

It will be the first time that the teams face off and therefore their knowledge of each other will be limited. With that in consideration, will their tactics be enough to thwart the opposition.

On Monday, the Pool B competition will kick off with Atiu beginning their Kia Orana festival journey against Tupapa Maraerenga FC.

While it is unknown how the game will pan out, the 2017 boy’s champions Tupapa Maraerenga FC will play their hearts out to defend their title.

Monday’s games will be split between two venues. Pool A will play at the Takitumu School field while Pool B will be held on field one of the CIFA Complex.
