The National Football Championship has now completed its final day of round matches.

Tuesday marked the final day of group play, and standings are now finalised, with berths to the semi-finals decided.

In the senior men’s division, Aitutaki will face Mauke, after the latter defeated Atiu 2-1.

Mauke will have to thank their goalkeeper David Ngaoire, who produced a brilliant display that denied a goal from Takitumu following a nil-all stalemate.

Avarua reached the semi-finals by fighting off Puaikura to determine their placing in Group A, but it only gets tougher for them from this point on.

The two teams from Rarotonga, Avarua and Takitumu, will go head to head this evening in what should be a good match.

In the women’s division, Avarua’s attacking play seems to be getting stronger each day.

Avarua controlled possession of the ball for the entirety of the match, handing Puaikura a 4-0 loss, and are scheduled to take on Mauke, who have been exceptional in Group B.

The Aitutaki women are favouring their chances of making it all the way to the finals, especially with their potent attack.

They have to overcome a spirited Mauke side however, who have exceeded expectations and played with a lot of heart.

The action will be taking place at the CIFA Complex this afternoon. Results from Tuesday’s games have determined the placings for Group A and B.
