Turangi women’s team is a new side in the competition but is leading the weekly league with 10 points.
In their last match, the side defeated Takuvaine by a massive eight wickets.
Turangi won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 195 runs with the loss of only two wickets. Mona Amoa was the top scorer for the side after amassing 67 runs not out, followed by Captain Josephine Maoate 28 runs not out and Tekura with 24 runs.
In reply, Takuvaine were all out for 46 runs.
The men’s team, which won the title last year, have recorded mixed results but remain one of the top bets in this year’s competition. The side has a win and a loss so far.
In their last match, Turangi defeated last year’s runner-up Tupapa I by 25 runs.
After winning the toss, Turangi went to bat and managed to score 175 runs for 18.1 overs and in reply, Tupapa were all out for 150 runs in 18.5 overs.
The top scorers in the side were Te Waiti Mareikura (37), Vane Tangimetua (33) and Tiri Toa (32).
