Smokies: Flight updates, please

Trying to get a flight arrival up-date from Air New Zealand is almost as difficult as trying to get a second drink on board one of their flights.

Flight updates

Trying to get a flight arrival up-date from Air New Zealand is almost as difficult as trying to get a second drink on board one of their flights. What can be so difficult?! Operations know at least 2/3 hours in advance the ETA of a due flight. So why can’t they relay the info to front office staff? Even if it's on time, it would nice to reassured that that is so, especially for those that have to come from the south side of the island. The Tower staff are generally very polite and helpful giving arrivals times BUT it is not their job.

TV blues

Why are we always watching repeated foreign series or TV shows that are not in English of Cook Islands Maori on Cook Islands TV? It’s soooo annoying!

What’s in a number?

A Smoke Signaller says the Herald reported that 350 people attended the Demo campaign launch at the National Auditorium. Unless the Herald was counting empty seats disguised as people, the real count was around 125, SS says!

Go figure

Why is it that the Police are able to issue a licence to ride a motorbike to a 16-year-old, but not allow them to fill up their own bikes with fuel until they are 18? Current CI regs state you have to be 18 to serve petrol, where is the sense in that?

Living language

With reference to the article in today’s paper “Keeping the Cook Islands Maori language alive and thriving”. Rumour has it that even English classes at Araura College are conducted in Maori!
