Getting political priorities right

A local political rally was described as a well-attended affair by the candidate who then commented “we sold many, many plates of food”. Wow – it’s right up there with taxing the old people and travel expenses. At least enough money was raised for the Sign Raising Squad (SRS) to complete their overnight missions.

Ignorance vs ignorance

I had to laugh at the irony of the comments made in a letter to the editor re: the churches In Rarotonga: “Are they so ignorant that they do not recognise worldwide acceptance that one is born homosexual” and that one in 10 of us are gay. A quick Google search shows despite extensive and expensive research there is no conclusive worldwide acceptance that “one is born homosexual” or that “10 per cent of the population” of the Cook Islands is gay. Maybe a claim to be investigated in the next census? Leave the ignorant statements to those other “ignorant” people in future. Good on you for having a crack at it though.

The GM for Tupapa

Election promises are flying around and the GM for Tupapa/Action Man comes up with a doozy! A footpath from town to club Raro! Some may scoff at this idea but if you are going to set election goals you may as well make them measureable. And if you’re going to bet on any politician to get it done, the money should always go on the GM for Tupapa. When he gets it done we can have a ceremony to unveil the new footpath as “The Path to a Successful Campaign – BULD BY GEORGE”.

The best bar in town….

We’ve had the pleasure of frequenting the best bar in town over the last two years. It has flashing lights, a drive through, good company and serves up the best drinks in town. Best of all the drinks are free! It is so popular a second outlet was opened down the road! Head down to the water filling stations in Tupapa. Happy hour 24/7!

Was he for real?

What saddened me a lot, a Grey Power member in Tikioki opposes them being taxed and yet was driving his tractor on Saturday afternoon with a disk being towed on the back road, ruining the nice road which cost us locals and worse, the people’s nice lawns. Come on koe Grey Power.

Leave PM alone

Please everybody leave our PM alone and buy a return ticket and go to Manihiki and see what the PM has done to support pearl farmers. No-one has the kawas like our PM, he’s got the resources to cater for everyone and he cares.
