Dear editor,

I introduce myself: my name is Simone Panizzi, I live and work in Italy (in Livorno). I write as a sports journalist for a newspaper in my city and I have a passion for international football.

From 2012 I started collecting the jerseys of the 211 federations that are part of FIFA, and in 2017 I was the first in history to complete this mission!

I believe in football as a means of bringing peoples together regardless of differences, and this journey has helped me learn about different customs, traditions and cultures. All united under the game of football.

I was lucky enough to be invited to the FIFA museum in Zurich in May 2018 (I was their guest, a collaboration could be born) and in July 2018 all the shirts were exhibited for a month in a museum in Italy.

I am now looking to improve and make my collection excellent, looking for some “gems” around the world to create something unique: a collection of only shirts worn by players in official matches!

That would be something greatest!

I am writing to you because I tried contacting Cook Islands FA and after speaking with some of its staff. Unfortunately, seems like helping me for them is a mission impossible as they gave away old kits and has only exact number of shirts for the most recent kits.

I know old shirts (from FIFA entry in 1994 to maybe 2007) were given to staff and coaches around Cook Islands.

I would like if you could tell my story and put an announcement to everyone who could have one old Cook Islands national team match-worn shirt – that is necessary, it means someone played it in an official match – to share and sell or gift me for my project! I am sure someone will pop out to you.

Best regards from Italy,

Simone Panizzi,
Livorno, Italy
