Enough is enough – time to forgive and forget

Thursday July 19, 2018 Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Again in today’s newspaper we find a statement, this time by ‘Crooks in Parliament’, that a person who has been convicted of a crime and paid his or her dues should not ever be elected to government.

Two such stupid remarks have come from your newspaper in the past week or so.

This country was, and hopefully still is, a Christian-principled nation. Forgive and forget is a basic tenet of that faith.

When we become dominated or bombarded by godless, non-Cook Island smart remarks, it is time to say forgive, forget or get out.

I suggest that the 10 commandments are a good starting place for all of us – and remember, some of those laws require the death penalty.

Stealing and arson are not payable with death. Ask your audience if they have ever deserved the death penalty and gotten away with it.
