Some advice for Pastor Ngarima

Monday March 12, 2018 Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Pastor Ngarima George, who wrote a letter to CINews on March 4, is obviously oblivious to the fact Mormons are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Read the sign outside of each chapel!

I know it is gut-wrenching to swallow and accept, but get over it pastor. The church has been around for nearly 200 years and has 17 million members worldwide.

I do not speak for the church, but let me say this: our quest is to follow the teachings and example of the Saviour Jesus Christ. The Church bears His name! Having said that, what and where is the Vakanui Mission? Should you not be engaging yourself in teaching your own flock good Christian principles rather than be concerned of what others believe?

Some good advice “It is best not to bite the hand that feeds you.”

In this case it is the New Zealand prime minister, Jacinda Ardern

I ask: “How can you then accept the New Zealand pension If you believe that this wonderful dynamic woman is evil and somehow corrupted. You should be the first to put up your hand and refuse her offer Surely for you it is a matter of high principle?

If you believe Ardern is chosen by God, then that should be enough! I don’t claim to know the prime minister but as a Mormon, it seems to me she maintains her home-grown values of being honest, humble, happy, confident, caring, genuine, helpful, serving others, forgiving, respectful, compassionate, and nonjudgmental to name but a few of her qualities! If these qualities were not obvious to you, then you missed something truly amazing brother!

Here is a positive scripture for all of us:

Matt 7:1-3 – “Judge not that ye be judged. For with what judgement ye judge ye shall be judged and with what measure ye met it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that’s in thy brother’s eye but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”
