BCI SUMMER IN PARADISE CONTEST: Back at work after three weeks’ holiday, I’m easily distracted, and one thing will do it for sure: photos of my kids enjoying their summer break.

I may be enjoying the air-conditioning in our office, but they’ve been cooling off by visiting Rarotonga’s beaches and swimming pools.

A photo of my big boys, aged 9 and 7, jumping hand-in-hand into a pool last week brings me real joy – not just because of what it says about holidays and sunshine, but of the story of tells of love and family.

But more than that, summer photos are a chance to share that feeling with friends and family who are far away – and now, with our community here in Cook Islands.

Today, we invite you to send us your best photos of the summer every week – we’ll choose the most evocative for publication in the newspaper. Moreover, with the generous support of BCI, we are delighted to offer an iPad, an iPhone and a big canvas print as prizes for the best pics of the coming months.

So go on, start snapping – and email your pics to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Entries are open now, and run every day until February 7. Meitaki!
