Though the massive storm is dominating a large part of the southwest Pacific, it is not totally to blame for the rain which has dampened Rarotonga over the last few days, says Cook Islands Meteorological Service director Arona Ngari.
The present weather, which he describes as an ‘on and off system’, is oscillating between the Southern and Northern Cook Islands, with the result that Rarotonga residents can expect more rain for the next few days.
The heavy rain has already caused flooding problems.
