Access to cash on the island of Aitutaki has been made easier with the installation of a second ATM at the airport.

Bank of the South Pacific Aitutaki Branch Manager Rosa Henry said the launch was successful, and an exciting initiative for the people of Aitutaki. This was their second ATM on the island, and provides locals and tourists ready access to cash, she said.

“After considering several locations on Aitutaki it was decided the airport was the most suitable being the gateway to the island.

“Everyone who travels to Aitutaki generally arrives through the airport, we want to offer our customers convenient banking services. This also provides an alternate option, rather than travelling into town.”

The blessing ceremony was performed by Pastor Charlie Taamo and attended by BSP representatives from Aitutaki and Rarotonga.

“This latest development is a testament to the bank’s commitment to the Cook Islands and a sign of our continual investment to bring convenient and cost-effective banking options to all BSP customers.”

Another agency location is currently under consideration in Aitutaki and expected to be launched before the end of the year.

The first cash machine in Aitutaki, located in town, was installed 17 years in 2002 by Westpac, which is now BSP.

There is also a BCI cash machine on Aitutaki.
