Britain’s Channel 4 reality show Shipwrecked will feature Aitutaki after being filmed on the island last year.

Shipwrecked has a long history with the Cook Islands and its producers said the support from the people of Aitutaki has been tremendous.

Neale Simpson, the show's executive producer, said: “The Cook Islands is the ideal setting for our paradise island adventure. The stunning island backdrops are the perfect place to play out the hedonism, heroism and hilarity that the UK public will be able to enjoy once the show airs.”

The Cook Islands was chosen as the location of Shipwrecked for its beauty and it is expected that the new series will raise the country’s profile in the UK and inspire more Brits to travel.

We're a top beach!

The Cook Islands was named one of the 50 Top Beaches in the World in an article by The Active Times.

Muri Beach was highlighted as number 27, coming in just behind Thailand and Mexico.

Taking top spots were India, Chile and Seychelles who were ranked by a range of factors including; accessibility, location, swimming and water sports.
