Manatua cable project set to start

The Cook Islands and other Pacific Island countries participating in the Manatua submarine telecommunications cable project are close to finalising the international tender to carry out this multi-million dollar development.

Government approved additional expenditure of $2.1 million from July to December last year.

Chinese government is committing close to $10 million towards a project which will oversee the refurbishment of the Ministry of Justice, the police headquarters and the sports arena buildings.

Total revenue collection for the quarter ending September 2017/18 was slightly lower than the Budget estimate but this should not affect projected revenue collection for this financial year, says Finance minister Mark Brown.
