Top anglers in memorial fishing comp

Pictured is Buckley Junior with a speared mahimahi. He is one of the many experienced fishermen who will partake in the first Rarotonga fishing event of the year to be held today. Spear fishing, poito (traditional method) and rod n reel will be accepted for the annual Gordon Murray competition. In partnership with the Cook Islands Game Fishing Club, the day long fishing contest will run from 6am to 6pm. All fish must be weighed in the club during these hours. Prize giving will begin at 7pm. The heaviest fish and heaviest aggregate categories will share in a prize pool of $5000, which include great prizes from Vonnia’s and the Murray family.
