With the biggest annual Gary Parlour Wahoo fishing competition on next weekend, this 48.4kg whopper has come in early.

Reeled in by Victoria Adams in 40 minutes, this is the heaviest fish she has brought in. However, she has reeled in a marlin about six foot long, that was tagged and released.

“I love fishing, reeling in this one was just amazing,” said Adams, who admits she doesn’t get to go out fishing as often as she would like.

Visiting the island for the first time from Sydney, this was Adams’ first fishing trip with skipper Irakau William, and Pupuke Robati Jnr, Tiki Tetava on board Akura.
