James Talbot’s mission to raise $300,000 for the Creative Centre in Rarotonga is expected to end once he reaches Cape Reinga in about two months’ time.

Talbot through the Creative Trail Feb 2019, Givealittle page has raised $11,366 so far and with him now completing the North Island, people are encouraged to give to the worthy cause.

The Givealittle page will close on July 23. Donations can also be done though the ANZ fundraising account #410744 named "Creative Trail Feb 2019”.

On day 73 of his journal, Talbot walked from Parawai Lodge to Waitewaewae Hut.

He walked through drizzling rain which got worse and managed to get walk across a muddy track of fallen trees and crossed a few streams.

Talbot said the walk was getting too dangerous and he decided to cut his trip short to the Waitewaewae Hut.

“It was too dangerous to progress up and over five kilometres of alpine tops,” Talbot said.

He said he managed to walk 10.1km in 6.75hours.

“At the hut were two hunters who had shot two deer and getting extracted by chopper. An American couple are staying in the hut with me tomorrow to wait out the weather and there was also another walking pair Argentinian and Canadian.”

Talbot’s Day 73 walk did not end too well due to the adverse weather.

He said the forecasts for the next few days did not look too good but he would wait out the weather to continue his walk on the North Island.
