Christmas Box time – and your help is invited

With Christmas around the corner, preparations for the annual Christmas Box campaign are underway.

Packing of the boxes will start on December 1 at the Are Pua Gateway church in Takuvaine from 4.30pm.

Event coordinator Vaiana George says volunteers will be needed to unpack a 20 foot container.

This is a great opportunity for sports teams and gym enthusiasts to flex their muscles for charity. Last year, 1323 Christmas boxes were packed in a record time of two hours and 40 minutes.

Over 1000 boxes are expected to be shared out, with more than half to be delivered to the Outer Islands.

Taio Shipping and Transam Cook Islands have kindly sponsored the freight to the Pa Enua, says George.

The annual Christmas Box ball will be held next week Wednesday November 21 at the Rarotongan Beach Resort and Spa. Tickets cost $100 each. Phone Vaiana on 72927 for dinner tickets as only 100 seats are available.

The October quiz night at the Rarotonga golf club raised $3,500 and this will go towards 70 boxes for the project.

Meanwhile, a sausage sizzle will operate next Friday in front of BSP.

Anyone wanting to donate towards the cause can deposit money into the Aroa Mou account at BCI.
