The Cook Islands Police Service is advising the public to exercise extra care on the road today during the escorted procession being conducted for the late Papa Dan Kamana (Teanuanua Dan Teariki Kamana Tepuretu Mataiapo).

After a short prayer service at 10am, the escorted procession is scheduled to depart from the Rarotonga Hospital and make its way to the Osana Meeting House in Tupapa-Maraerenga.

From there Papa Dan’s casket will be carried on foot to his home at Nukutaaratea in Tupapa.

Drivers are being asked to extend every courtesy and respect to the movement of the procession as it makes its way along the designated route through to Tupapa. Traffic diversions will be in place where necessary.

While moving through the town area the procession will also include a stop at the National Police Headquarters to allow the Service and Recruit Wing, named in honour of the widely respected community elder, to pay tribute to his passing.
